Big Picture

The monsoon's aftermath continues to impact Himachal Pradesh, with the death toll rising above 427, over 375 roads remaining blocked, and a Rs 2,687-crore World Bank project sanctioned for restoration.
Major educational reforms are underway, including the introduction of the CBSE curriculum in 100 government schools and a ban on mobile phone use for both students and teachers during school hours.
The state government has launched the 'Pashu Mitra' policy, aiming to appoint 1,000 individuals to improve veterinary care for livestock in rural areas.
Infrastructure projects face scrutiny as the Himachal High Court has reprimanded the NHAI for slow progress on slope protection work along the Chandigarh-Shimla highway.
Himachal is advancing its technological infrastructure with plans for a digital university, the introduction of AI courses in colleges, and using technology to strengthen disaster management.
Administrative activities include an ongoing e-KYC process for over 60,000 pensioners and reviews of Centrally sponsored schemes at the subdivision level.
