Big Picture

Himachal Pradesh is devastated by record monsoon rains, leading to widespread landslides, floods, and significant loss of life across several districts.
The Indian Air Force is conducting extensive rescue operations, airlifting hundreds of stranded pilgrims from the Bharmour region.
A political dispute has arisen, with the state government seeking a special relief package from the Centre while facing criticism from the opposition.
The Supreme Court has taken notice of the disaster, flagging potential illegal tree felling as a contributing factor to the floods' severity.
Amid the crisis, the state government conferred awards to teachers and distributed aid to beneficiaries under the Sukh Aashray Yojana.
